The formation of Buka is due to the huge reservoir of Bango dam, which creates unending ecological areas, shelter to millions of species and water to countless villages.

During construction of the Minimata Bango dam, many villages, hills, roadways and forests came under catchment area, and many communities were allocated to other places, these partially sunken hills are now Beautiful Island but still many tribes live in these hills and connected to the world via wooden boats. You may find these tribe fishing in their islands.

Gateway to Buka is through the rugged roads of the forests and the socio-cultural lifestyles of the tribes. If it is your day you may find some rare animals, snakes, birds. The road is narrow with ups and down, so be a little careful while driving. At the end of the road, where blues starts, is the right place buka.

Buka is safe, managed by the forest department of Chhattisgarh, it has semi developed camps and resorts. All you can do here is camp firing, fishing, horse riding, boating, trekking. You can walk late night on nourished grass and wake early morning to experience the sunrise between the hills.

Here camps are equipped with chairs and beds. Here you can stay safely with your family. All the ways, boat will take you a few miles inside the water body, where you and the sky will be left alone. Sitting on rocks, you can catch the various shapes of fishes and bring some dry woods from the forest, all you ready to make some delicious shake. At the end of the day you can trek the sloppy mountains in search of bears, but that would be dangerous. The water turns blue and leaves of trees into yellow in strong sunlight, making the most spectacular view.

Reach : Buka is 65 kms from Korba railway station, on the way to Korba-Ambikapur, via Kathghora (NH 130). Then turn right from MADAI village ( 30 kms from Katghora), and straight 14 km to Buka.

Nearest airport – Raipur airport. Frequent trains from Raipur to Korba.

Nearest Railway station – Korba Railway station.

Accommodation in Buka- as it is managed by Forest Department Kathghora. Things are not in Proper way, Before coming to BUKA, make reservation at the kathghora forest office for camp and resort. They will provide you a ticket for accommodation in Buka.

  • 2000 Rs per camp, where 8 people can reside together, it has all facilities, a bed, cooler.
  • 4000 Rs for glass room on the front of the shore.

Boating – boats and horse can be booked instantly.

  • 500 Rs per half an hour, and 6000 Rs to travel to Satrenga, at other end of river.

Place near buka : Bango dam is one of the fascinating spots, on the same roadways. 20 kms turn from pondi uproda. It allows you to reach the zenith of the hill, where you are exposed to one side large, unending blue body and another side, deep trench covered with green trees. This scenic view comes very few times in life. These destinations are ringed with most conserved tribes, if you get some free time, knock any textured door of tribes. On the way to korba ambikapur, one another marvellous destination is kendai fall.

    I been there ones only to see kendai fall Just before mansoon. There was no water, got Really disapponted and thought of not of not going back to that place again . But after reading this article i think. I should change my mindset and pack my bag and move on.
